About BenbrookBenbrook is a city located in the southwestern corner of Tarrant County, Texas, in Texas's 12th congressional district, and a suburb of Fort Worth. The population was 21,234 at the 2010 census, up from 20,208 in 2000 and 19,564 in 1990. As of the census of 2000, there were 20,208 people, 8,599 households, and 5,778 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,764.5 people per square mile (681.4/km²). There were 8,914 housing units at an average density of 778.3 per square mile (300.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 88.30 percent White, 4.42 percent African American, 0.50 percent Native American, 2.14 percent Asian, 0.04 percent Pacific Islander, 2.71 percent from other races, and 1.87 percent from two or more races. 6.96 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. The city of benbrook also houses a small European population, many of whom are native to the U.K. In 1949, two years after Benbrook was incorporated as a village, the sale of liquor and beer was made illegal.
