About HaddockHaddock (also known as Haddocks Station) is an unincorporated community in Jones County, Georgia, United States. It lies along State Route 22, to the east of the city of Gray, the county seat of Jones County. Its elevation is 499 feet (152 m). Although it is unincorporated, it has a post office, with the ZIP code 31033. Haddock is named for the Haddock family who owned a large plantation in the area. It was once an incorporated town (1905) with schools, a train station, a saw mill, a bank, and a canning factory. The town had its beginnings in the 1870s. Prior to this there were trading posts with nearby Indian Territory. Most of the businesses are now closed and it is primarily a bedroom community to Macon and Milledgeville. Haddock is part of the Macon Metropolitan Statistical Area. Haddock is also one of the many places that the "Dog-Man" has been sighted. This is a dog-like creature that seems to have human abilities. Many say that this "Dog-Man" has dark, brown fur and walks like a human. Most of the sightings have been on Bowen Hill Road and Kitchen Road. This makes since considering research shows that this creature likes wooded areas with an abundant source of animals. An elderly woman reported that she has seen the "Dog-Man" in her back yard. The woman said that "this creature was very large and dark." When she reported the incident she stated that she was sitting on her porch, when she all of the sudden got an uneasy feeling, she looked over to see this large dog-like creature standing about 50' away from her. She said that she turned away and looked back to make sure she wasn't "seeing things," but when she looked back it was still there. She told others that "the creature seemed to be mocking" her. This sighting is one of the many in this area. Although, many have been reported, none have been confirmed. more ... |
